The Founders of ANIMALISTIC FITNESS
Certified as a Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) and Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
Joel served in the United States Navy as a SEAL medic. While on active duty he deployed multiple times to Iraq, Afghanistan and Pacific theaters. Joel is the co-founder of Animalistic Fitness headquartered in San Diego, CA. Animalistic Fintess was born in the SEAL teams out of the necessity for real world functional fitness, regardless of the environment or the training facility. Animalistic Fitness allowed Joel to be one of the most operationally fit SEAL’s on his team and his fitness would prove life saving while deployed to the Middle East. Joel is a firm believer in mental tuffness; anything can be accomplished if you discipline your mind to accomplish the task at hand.
Additionally, Joel is an independent contractor for Trident Group, a Virginia Beach company that specializes in anti-piracy operations off the horn of Africa. He is a member of Procinctu Group, focusing on acquisitions and business development. Joel is also a primary instructor for STAG, a leadership development program at Kudos.
Joel has traveled extensively in his career, visiting or living in over forty five countries. In his travels he developed a fitness program specifically designed to meet the challenges of the traveling professional. Utilizing hotel rooms, ship cabins and local parks to create quick and intense functional workouts. The beauty of Animalistic Fitness is that it can be done anytime and anywhere with the materials around you. Joel has run several marathons and finished 1st in a 50 mile ultra marathon in the mountains of Northern California. Forging an elite level of fitness forces you to discipline your mind which creates mental tuffness and drive, those qualities expand and enrich all areas of your life. Whether its climbing a mountain or climbing the corporate ladder, Animalistic Fitness not only trains your body but also your mind for the uncertainties of everyday life.
Joel has a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from National University. A Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Drexel University, a internationally recognized and ranked MBA program. Lastly, Joel is continuing his education with a Doctorate in Educational leadership and Management from Drexel University beginning in September of 2012.
